Is a crystal shell far removed from the Forgotten Realms are the fragments of ancient worlds, planets ripped apart in a time so ancient that no memory of the cataclysm exists. Pieces of planets, called fragments, float above an ocean of water that floats unsupported in space. Islands still dot the surface of this sea and ships sail across it while creatures swim in the depths. Above it fly the spelljammers, travelling from fragment to fragment bringing trade and communication to the scattered communities.
Ruling this body of water are the Sea Elves, their stronghold, Umahlae, hidden deep under the surface. Above it is the island and city Themue that they use for dealings with surface dwellers.
Their domain encompasses men and hobbits and dwarves and surface elves that live on the island scattered across the sea; they ask little of their subjects other than to stand with them in case of conflict with the sky pirates or orc tribes that infest the floating fragments found high in the sky. The sea elves control the surface trade with fairly gentle tarrifs and protect the ships on the sea from all threats.
