The land of Chime
Chime is an out of the way fragment that happens to be at the junction of several trade routes and is a popular stop to take on supplies. It measures roughly 400 miles across the longest parts of the island.
The lslands of Chime are home to men, elves, hobbits, and a miscellany of other creatures.
Hamalan: humans, a barony in fealty to the Kingdom of Vartil, ruled by Baron Kendrik Chamris and Baroness Alina. The economy is heavily agricultural with some mining.
Ormond: humans, a republic in fealty to the Kingdom of Vartil ruled by Councilor Superior Selexia Vartoro.
the economy is based on agriculture and extensive mining operations.
Tasserill: elves, a duchy in fealty to the Fey Court that includes the island and stronghold called Vine which serves as the capital ruled by Duchess Shaelithe. The population is scattered over the woods in flets and hidden towers. The two elven strongholds, Vine and Thorn, are home to the Ducal court and the Forest Knights. The economy is based on agriculture and fine arts.
Tully Shire: hobbits, a shire in fealty to the Fey Court ruled by Thane Gloria Greenleaf. The economy is based on abundant agriculture and skilled crafting. Isolated by the need for a skyboat to get to the big island.
Other regions are more or less uninhabited, except by hostile things.
The Wilds are heavily wooded and fierce beasts roam in the shadows under the trees, supposedly ruled by a Tiger King. Certain valuable species of hardwoods grow there but the beasts defend their territory aggressively.
Kelset is a huge marsh, often foggy, and infested with serpent men and their unclean servants, as well as a wide variety of disgusting slithering and crawling things. The moist landscape is dotted with ruins of unknown origin.
Garnet, the island and the ancient ruined city, is home to the restless dead and other foul things that are ruled from Husk.
Husk: the stronghold of the dead, ruled by the liche Adir. There has been no discernable activity from Husk in at least a generation, when the undead attacked across Western Chime and were driven back by Duchess Shaelithe and the combined armies of the of the West. The Duchess defeated Adir in single combat but he escaped destruction through trickery.
Spoke: a mystery, the island was home to sheep herders from Ormond but one night about 5 years ago they and their sheep vanished and strange alien buildings and plants appeared. Those who went to investigate did not return. Strange glowing lights have been seen over this small island.
Current Events
A war between Hamalar and Ormund is entering its second year, a dispute over the murder of the nephew of the Baron of Halamar. The conflict that has claimed many lives but is currently only being carried out on a pro forma basis due to the massive casualties and the bankrupting of their economies.
• The mindless ferocity of the war is odd given the fact that a matter such as this normally would be settled by paying were-gild or having a duel.
Serpentmen have been raiding along the Western coasts of the lake and their canoes are a frequent sight on the water. The frequency and intensity of their raids has been increasing over the last few months.
Godbound in Chime
The liche Adir has been sitting in his stronghold of Husk and presumably considering his options since his defeat over 20 years ago by the armies of the West.
Duchess Shaelithe rules Tasserill in fief to the Elf Queen Aldrena of the Fey Court.
Religion in Chime
The vast majority of the peoples of Ormond and Hamalan worship the pantheon of Heaven. The elves worship Aravelle. The serpentmen are thought to worship H'na vo Thoyen.
