The Sun Ring and Suadith system: sensor sweep data
This ancient artifact, an approximately 5000 mile diameter (an approximately 15708 mile circumference) ring, orbits the sun in the Suadith system. The open side of the ring is facing the sun at a distance of approximately 2 million miles. The surface is pitted and marked with impact craters and appears to have been repaired in some areas. The ring is constructed of a material unknown to Imperial science and may be a ceramic-metallic hybrid.
Approximately 80% of the ring is solid construction; machinery and components with access tunnels. The remaining 20% has control rooms and other chambers. A tube runs around the outside of the circumference and carries a subway-style multi-car train. Antennae and undetermined structures line the inner curve of the ring.
An airlock has been noted, it seems to have multiple levels of construction on top of the original access point showing different types of technology as if the airlock facility was expanded.
Sensors will estimate the age of the ring to a range of 75,000 to 200,000 years old.
The ring seems able to maintain it's orbit around the sun at a distance of about two million miles as otherwise the pressure from solar winds and the gravity of the sun would have sent it spinning out of control.
There is a cloud of debris around the ring that seems to be made up of fragments of destroyed starships, one was examined and was determined to be from the Old Empire and dated to approximately 12000 to 15000 years old.
There are six planets in the Suadith system, all are lifeless rocks with no atmosphere.
