Magradore Station
Out beyond civilised space, just a bit past Nowhere, is the frontier. Isolated system clusters that are still being explored and opened for mostly unregulated exploitation, where the line between raiders and legitimate salvage finders can get fuzzy and indistinct. One such frontier outpost is Magradore Station, home to a transient population of mercenaries, smugglers, black op technicians and mages, explorers, salvage buyers, whores, pimps, gamblers, thieves, and worse.
A coalition of businesses that employ trained field operatives sponsor free passage to the station for qualified personnel who agree to perform one mission that will definitely put them in harm's way. This allows prospective companies to evaluate an operatives skills and capabilities with an eye to future employment.
Magradore Station is the transit hub connecting four other systems considered to be within Near Space distances from the station. The journey to the nearest Imperial system could take approximately one month or even longer given the vagaries of Drift travel.
This station was built in the Artoth system 186 years ago because of it's proximity to 4 other systems and acts as a transit hub for this remote area of space. It has gone through 2 major expansions and countless minor (often undocumented) modifications. It is owned and administrated by the Talliver Company and licensed by the Empire as a colony. Imperial presence consists of a Civil Prefect with accompanying administrative staff to ensure the Emperor's interests are both protected and advanced, with an Imperial Navy cruiser and a Battalion of Marines to enforce the Emperor's wishes.
Parts of the station are essentially derelict and there is work for people willing to go on salvage, repair, and bug hunt missions.
