Besides the 600 in gold coin, new characters start with the following:
A riding horse with tack (both are of very basic quality)
A firelock pistol with 15 iron bullets
Formal, casual, and work clothing
Basic field gear (pack, blanket, canteen, knife, 6' x 6' canvas tarp, 20' heavy cord, 20 waxed matches)
A small garret room in one of the inns the Baron owns in Ballindrae
As a benefit of a better education, thanks to the generosity of the Baron, all characters know:

Knowledge, Nobility and Courtesy, 2 ranks
Weapon Proficiency, Advanced
Discount
New characters may purchase a mesh coat, heavy mesh coat, or breastplate at half cost if they have the appropriate proficiency
