The night is cool as your sailboat glides over the water. As you look over the gunwales you see stars scattered under the water. The boat is small and can barely hold all of you and the orchestra providing your dramatic theme music. Ahead you see the top of a tower sticking up out of the water, your destination.
You pull alongside the tower top and an orc wearing a bell boy uniform take takes the bow line and ties it off. Jumping over the parapet to the platform you approach a doorway opening onto spiral stairs leading down. The odours rising from the darkness below suggest a fondness for over ripe sushi and milk and several rats emerge at a run and throw themselves over the side into the water.
You are walking down a dark, winding stair. Everything is in shades of grey and black. Down below you see lights, when you reach the bottom an archway opens onto a large chamber lit by a complex blinking neon sign that makes the lighting very noir. Patterns of shadows fall on your face as you look around the room and decide that it would have been better if you'd cut the soles off your shoes, sat up in a tree, and learned to play the flute instead of coming here.
Suddenly a door bangs open and a woman walks in, she is tall, with white hair and the emotionless face of a beautiful porcelain doll. She is carrying three heavy tomes, each bound in strange materials and inscribed with ponderously portentous occult sigils as she threads her way through the crowded room, finally opening a door and looking back at you. She holds your gaze with her painted eyes until you realise that you are getting moist in certain personal areas of your body. She steps through the door and it closes behind her, it promptly vanishes and leaves only bare wall.
"Bloody 'ell, guv'nor, she's scarpered, the way is closed, got to wait for the orbits to come about again, aye."
There is a uniformed constable standing near you, staring at where the door was a moment ago. In your hand is a gold coin showing a leaping dolphin on one face and a ziggurat on the reverse.
"We'll have to put you up until the next conjunction, aye, and I know just the place, the Ebon Hawk"
An orc in a bell boy uniform walks up and says, "Going up,"
The lights go out.
