Gar looked around the junkbay, and smiled. He took a deep breath of the recycled air, tinged with ozone, machine oil, and several other chemicals that probably wouldn’t do his lungs any good, but would scrub out easily enough with a medkit. Turning to face Daedalus, this may be the first time the Lashunta had ever seen Gar grin. ”I think this is gonna be fun, Daed.” The twinkle in Gar’s eye was a world of difference from the grim scowl that was Daedalus’ first memory of his soon to be partner in grime.
Picking through the piles of defunct devices and machines, Gar and Daedalus found it easy to work together; approaching the junkbay as a sort of archeological dig made sure that they always found the best parts from the piles they were working in. Together, they tagged the chassis of an All-Terrain Transport that could be pressed to serve. A bit tall for their concept, they also scrounged the side paneling from two Urban Cruisers, which would lower the weight- but also the durability and protection offered- of the final vehicle; along with a military-grade heavy weapons gyro mount from a decommissioned humm-zee. ”Daed! Come look at this!!” At the bottom of another pile, buried where few would have bothered to excavate, Gar pointed out the barrel of a Police-issue Autodisabler. “We are SO getting this!” Gar burbled with glee. He slapped on the anti-grav marker, and the cruiser’s chassis lifted itself slowly from the pile so Gar and Daedalus could set to work removing the weapon from the defunct vehicle.
After a week of work, having disabled the normal day/night cycle in the mechanics bay they rented for construction; Gar and Daedalus called the rest of the crew in. A large tarp covered the vehicle, as Gar and Daedalus addressed the group. ”As you all know; Daed and I have been occupied recently, working on our project. We are now ready to unveil… The Daeke!” Daedalus winced at Gar’s pronunciation, and grabbed his arm to whisper into the human’s ear. “What do you mean, we didn’t agree on the name?” “What- it’s the first syllable of your name, plus the last syllable of my name, and I think it make a perfectly reasonable…” Gar sighs. “Allright, allright!” Gar turned back to the group. “Apologies- last minute details; I’m sure you understand. Presenting… The Garalus!” The Garalus - Level 3-4 Custom Urban Cruiser/All Terrain Transport
