The world came into being as the Weaver began to weave the Great Tapestry that encompasses all of creation. As the shuttle moved on Her loom worlds were created, then the living things on the worlds were born. Creation was perfection, all aspects of it being beautiful and pleasing. Time had no meaning then and all things enjoyed a perfect endless life. She wove into existence beings of power so She could delegate some of the control of the universe, these beings came to be called Gods.
The Gods were given the ability to weave small areas of the Tapestry so that the Weaver could concentrate on the overall design. Most of these beings are unknown as their purview was obscure or distant and they never interacted with mortals. Some, however, are well known.
One such was the being called Gorthom. He became jealous that his domain was limited and he did not have control of the whole Tapestry and finally decided that if he could not be the Weaver then he would ruin the Tapestry. His anger and hatred infected his thread and he began to weave what would become Corruption. He created Demons, Undead, and Aberrations (sometimes called Abominations) and then he created War.
The Weaver saw what had happened but could not stop weaving new areas of the Tapestry because if she stopped it would all unravel so she created a new God imbued with her own essence that could fight Corruption and try to repair the damage to the Tapestry. This God has had many names in her existence. Currently she is called The Bright Lady and is worshipped as the matron deity of the Ellethmyr Empire and by some she is known as the Perfect Mistress but in an earlier age she was invoked as Gunnora.
